Habbox was founded many moons ago as the first Habbo fansite – in the summer of 2003 by a Habbo named Mizki, who had also been a Hobba (volunteer hotel moderator) when that scheme was still running.
Habbox started out as a small project, but Mizki soon realised that she needed other people to help her with the site! This is where Sierk came to learn of Habbox, and he and Mizki became very good friends.
As Sierk took more of a development role for the site, he was handed the reins as Web Page Manager and eventually took on full ownership of the site – he remains the owner to this day.
In late 2009, :Jin: became co-owner of Habbox after many years working at the site, as Sierk no longer took an active role in the day-to-day running.
In 2014, long-standing General Manager, xxMATTGxx, took a step back from Habbox and joined Sierk and :Jin: in the co-owner role. xxMATTGxx later resigned as co-owner in March 2017.
While the site owners provide important technical and financial support, the running of Habbox is for the most part overseen by the General Management team, consisting of lawrawrrr, Ozad, and FlyingJesus.
What does Habbox have to offer?
Habbox consists of Habbox, HabboxForum and from 2012, HabboxWiki.
It is run by volunteer staff members across multiple departments, led by a team of dedicated managers.
We pride ourselves on being the friendliest community on Habbo, providing a range of
services to our members while also being a platform to make new friends!
Departments at Habbox
Habbox currently has several departments, without which it would not be able to operate. These are:
• Competitions
• Events
• HabboxLive
• Help Desk
• Room Builders
• Articles
• Content Design
• Graphics
• Rare Values
• HabboxForum
Although each department has its own set of functions on Habbox and/or Habbo, the site could not run without the fantastic work of each one.
You can find out more about each department by visiting the Habbox Departments Wiki page.
Discontinued Habbox Projects/Sites
Habbox has had many large-scale projects and departments whilst popular in the past. Many of these services no longer serve a necessary role or were shut down to lack of staff/people using it.
The main discontinued projects are UploadPicz, Habbox TV, and HabboxWorld, although others have that been dissolved in the past include Habbox Hogwarts and the Productions department.
